VFW Post 3629 Announces Fort Wainwright Unit Adoption

Karen Lundquist - 8/29/2017

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Golden Heart Post 3629 has over 77 years of service to veterans and their families in the Fairbanks area.  This unit adoption signifies a unity between the local community and the military soldiers and their families stationed here in Alaska.  The post will be reaching out and providing support to the Sugar Bears and their families during and after their current deployment in Afghanistan.  Family members and rear detachment personnel are welcome at all Post activities. Bi-weekly care packages to those deployed will be sent and other ideas are in the works. Donations for the care packages are being accepted at the Post, located at 324 2nd Street. Suggested items include hard candy, beef jerky, laundry detergent pods, noodle bowls and cups, popcorn, powdered drink packets, nuts and pretzels and sample sized bath products. Boxes will be mailed out on a bi-weekly basis. Family members needing support or anyone who has questions can contact the Post Commander, Bob Martin, at (907) 479-3629 or by email at vfw3629@gci.net or Post member and local Sugar Bears representative and spouse Tracy Streagle at vfw3629@gci.net.
